NFL Second, Third Helmet Concept Series – AFC South – SportsLogos.Net News

Beginning with the 2025 season, every NFL team will be permitted to have three different helmet shells after the league announced a revised uniform policy in April

An exception was made for teams that underwent a redesign this offseason, though, which is why the Denver Broncos, Houston Texans and New York Jets will all have three shells at their disposal this fall.

With that, we’re continuing a concept series that creates second and/or third helmet designs for teams that have not unveiled them. We’re also fixing some issues we have with current alternate designs, as well.

Up next in the eight-part series is the AFC South as we make our way alphabetically through the conference before moving to the NFC East and so forth. You can check out our previous designs here.

Houston Texans

The Texans introduced three new helmet designs as part of their rebrand this offseason, including a red helmet with blue horns on both sides, but we actually think they hit a home run with their original Battle Red alternate lid.

We’re also aware of the compromise needed for them to add H-Town blue to their color scheme, but as commissioners of this series, we’re allowing them to embrace the new shade of blue as much as they want.

Indianapolis Colts

We’ve made a slight change to the Colts’ “Indiana Nights” alternate uniforms, adding a white-blue-white striping pattern to the black helmets to match the shoulders of the jersey and sides of the pants.

Indianapolis also wore a blue helmet from 1953-55 and as a throwback in 2010, but that design featured horseshoes on the back. We’ve moved them to the sides and added double stripes to match the Colts’ standard UCLA stripes.

Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jaguars added a white alternate helmet this offseason, but it feels out of place since it has to be paired with their black alternate jerseys. With that, we’ve decided to make a few changes to their wardrobe.

That starts with promoting their 1990s throwback uniform to full-time status, adding the stripes from the pants to their white helmets and introducing a matching gray helmet inspired by their original prototype design, which would be worn with a black jersey and new gray pants.

Tennessee Titans

Lastly, the Titans already have a white throwback helmet in the rotation, paying homage to their origins as the Houston Oilers, and could presumably swap decals if they ever wanted to bring back their 1999-2017 design.

We’ve added a powder blue lid for the third option as nod to the 1960-65 and 1972-74 Oilers, but used Tennessee’s alternate sword logo and current helmet stripe instead – though using an oil derrick would create another throwback option.
