Another update on the Utah Hockey Club’s long journey to establish a proper, permanent identity today as the three finalist logos were leaked online. The original source of the leak is unknown at this time, but the graphic was quickly confirmed to be legit by Frank Seravalli of The Daily Faceoff.
The leak shows the logos the team is considering using for the names Utah Hockey Club, Utah Mammoth, and Utah Outlaws, as well as mockups showing the logos on their home black jersey and wordmark logos.
I reconstructed the uniform mockups based on the original, low-res graphic, but here’s everything we saw:
So, what have we got here?
All three logos feature the same colour treatment, predominantly black with light blue and silver elements. The Mammoth and Outlaws are fairly run-of-the-mill designs (a common phrase thrown around on the socials was “EA Sports Create-a-Team” style). The former Yeti, later Wasatch, now Hockey Club logo at least combines a couple of elements, incorporating a Sasquatch face into the side of a set of mountains (it does remind me of the old Kootenay Ice logo, especially with the same colour scheme). Despite the similarities to the Ice logo, it’s easily my favourite of the lot.
The Utah Hockey Club is expected to make their final decision public after the 2024-25 NHL season concludes. Fans have been asked to vote on their favourite over the past week.
