The Recording Academy has announced the nominees for the 2025 Grammy Awards. Some notable names, in the alternative music categories, include Sonic Youth co-founder Kim Gordon and Clairo, who are both nominated for the first time. See all of the Grammy nominations here.
Gordon, nominated for “Bye Bye,” will try to beat Cage the Elephant, Fontaines, D.C., Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds, and St. Vincent to win Best Alternative Music Performance.
Clairo, nominated for Charm, will be competing against Gordon, Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds, Brittany Howard, and St. Vincent in the Best Alternative Music Album category.
The first Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Performance went to Wet Leg, in 2023, for “Chaise Longue.” Earlier this year, Paramore won the category with “This Is Why.”
