Apple Intelligence already has support for ChatGPT, and now it looks like Apple is hard at work on integrating Google’s Gemini as well. This will be coming at some point in the future.
In a backend update pushed along with the iOS 18.4 beta, there are now both “OpenAI” and “Google” options for third-party models within Apple Intelligence. So the work is currently being done, but of course there’s no telling when the feature will actually roll out to the public.
The most optimistic scenario is that it arrives with the public release of iOS 18.4, which is coming in April. But it could take longer, and Apple can also decide against it in the future – no official announcement has been made on the matter, even though Apple’s Craig Federighi did suggest in the past that the company would like to offer integration with other AI models, including Google’s.
In the meantime, Apple has officially confirmed that Apple Intelligence will finally become available in the EU in April with the release of iOS 18.4 and iPadOS 18.4, which is also when the AI suite will get support for more languages.
