Here’s the news about Dollar General closing some stores…
On March 13th, Dollar General announced that 96 of their stores will close, along with 45 Popshelf stores, by January 2026 based on store performance, operating conditions, and expected future performance. A list of Dollar General store closings has not been released yet.
Dollar General currently has over 20,000 stores, so this closure only represents less than one percent of its reach. The store believes that this decision will better position it to serve its customers and communities.
The company currently employs over 194,000 employees. No announcement has been made regarding what will happen to the employees who are working at the stores that will be closing.
