With their first faceoff about three months away, Nevada’s newest hockey team now has uniforms to go along with their name and logo.
On Tuesday, July 16, the ECHL’s Tahoe Knight Monsters unveiled the jerseys they’ll wear in their inaugural season, which kicks off this October. The team will play out of the Tahoe Blue Events Center in Stateline, Nevada.
The white jersey has teal stripes bordered in black and gold at the elbows, and the lower halves of the sleeves are black. The Knight Monsters’ primary logo appears on the chest, and black and gold stripes run around the waist. The squared-off shoulder yokes are black with gold trim and a logo of the monster’s eye in the shape of Lake Tahoe on each shoulder.
ECHL teams wear white jerseys at home and dark jerseys on the road until the All-Star Game break in January, at which point they switch to dark at home at white on the road. During the playoffs, they switch back to white at home and dark on the road.
Tuesday’s announcement was unclear on which of the black and gold jerseys would be the regular dark jersey and which would be an alternate. They’re only identified as “black” and “gold” on the team’s online store.
The gold jersey has the same striping pattern on the sleeves as the white jersey, and a monster’s head logo on the chest. Black and white stripes run around the waist. The shoulder yokes are black with white trim. A previously unseen logo sits on the shoulders, though it’s difficult to make out exactly what it is based on the renderings released on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the black jersey has teal stripes bordered in gold around the chest and sleeves. A shield logo sits on the chest with the monster’s eye in a lake below mountains. A narrow teal stripe runs around the waist, while monster head logos are on the shoulders.
The Knight Monsters also announced on Tuesday that they’d entered an affiliation agreement with the AHL’s Henderson Silver Knights and the NHL’s Vegas Golden Knights.
“We are very proud to be a part of the Golden Knights and Silver Knights families,” Knight Monsters co-owner David Hodges said in a press release. “Hockey in Nevada has continued to grow over the last seven-plus years and we’re excited to get going in late October.”
With the addition of Tahoe to the ECHL, Nevada is now represented in in the ECHL, AHL and NHL. Quebec and Pennsylvania are the only other jurisdictions to have teams in all three leagues.
“Two critical goals in our organization are to develop strong hockey players and grow the game of hockey in Nevada,” said Golden Knights general manager Kelly McCrimmon. “Our new partnership with Tahoe ensures that our prospects will progress in a first-class environment, and our Hockey Operations personnel will work with a great business staff to bring an exciting product to a new fanbase. We are very pleased to welcome the Knight Monsters here to Nevada.”
The Knight Monsters unveiled their name and logo in December 2023. The team’s ownership group includes former Heisman Trophy winner and NFL quarterback Tim Tebow.
The Knight Monsters will play their first ECHL game at home on Thursday, October 24, against the Jacksonville Icemen.
