QMJHL’s Rimouski Oceanic Unveil 30th Anniversary Logo – SportsLogos.Net News

The Rimouski Oceanic of the Quebec Maritime Junior Hockey League are hoping to stand as a shining beacon to the rest of the junior hockey world with their 30th anniversary logo, which fans got a first look at this week.

The Oceanic unveiled the logo on their website and social media channels on Friday, August 9. It depicts the top of the historic lighthouse at Pointe-au-Père, near Rimouski, in different shades of blue with the number 30 in the middle and light beaming out from both sides. The lighthouse guides ships to safe harbors just like the Oceanic guides its student-athletes to bright futures, the team says in its launch video.

The lighthouse is encircled by a navy blue ship’s porthole, and the lighter blue inside represents the St. Lawrence River that flows next to the city of Rimouski. The years 1995 and 2025 are contained within the light beams, illuminating the history and the future of the franchise.

“L’OCÉANIC” is spelled out around the top of the porthole, while the team’s primary logo sits at the bottom.

Friday’s announcement didn’t specify how the anniversary logo would be used. It could show up as a patch on players’ jerseys, or in other applications. The team is already using it as a profile picture on their social media channels.

As part of the Oceanic’s 30th anniversary, the Canadian Hockey League has named Rimouski the host city for the 2025 Memorial Cup. The logo for the event was unveiled in December 2023.

A number of Oceanic alumni have gone on to have successful careers in the National Hockey League, including Sidney Crosby, Brad Richards, Vincent Lecavalier and Alexis Lafrenière. They won the Gilles-Courteau Trophy as QMJHL champions in 2000, 2005 and 2015, and they won the Memorial Cup in 2000.

The Oceanic kick off their 2024-25 QMJHL regular season with a pair of road games against the Baie-Comeau Drakkar on September 20 and 21. Their home opener is on Saturday, September 28, against the Gatineau Olympiques.
