You may be surprised but Tecno has not one but two generations of foldables under its belt. Today, we have the Phantom V Flip2 for review, and it is quite an interesting device.
Just because Tecno is making strides in the foldable market doesn’t mean that the company has given up on its value roots. On the contrary, the Phantom V Flip2 is one of the most affordable flip devices around, launching at less than half the current price of the Galaxy Z Flip6.
But its appeal goes beyond being able to undercut its rivals. It has a new cover display and several new software features. While not a lot has changed on the inside of the phone, and you still basically get the same 6.9-inch foldable, 120Hz, LTPO, AMOLED display, just with thinner bezels, the outside design is radically different this year. Gone is the small, circular cover display of the original Phantom V Flip, and now we have an almost square 3.64-inch external panel flanking a fresh new camera design. The new cover display is fully functional and supports widgets, full apps, and even a keyboard, which seems like a usability game-changer.
In the upcoming era of AI, Tecno introduced a Gemini-powered voice assistant that comes pre-installed on the Phantom V Flip2. It is a chatbot that will bring real-time search results and some features to improve general usability.
Tecno also upped the battery capacity of the Phantom V Flip2 by nearly 20% to 4,720 mAh. The charging rate also improved to 70W; the company claims it can fill the whole battery in 43 minutes (or 50% in 15 minutes).
We also can’t fail to mention the new dual 50MP camera setup on the outside and an autofocusing 32MP selfie on the inside.
The Phantom V Flip2 comes in a pretty unique two-piece cardboard box.
You get a surprisingly rich accessory package. It includes a 70W fast charger, a USB Type-A to Type-C charging cable and a clear plastic, two-piece case for the phone itself. There are also some stickers in the box as well.
