Tecno Phantom V Fold2 review

Introduction and specs

The Tecno Phantom V Fold2 is a direct successor to the original Phantom V Fold, although it arrives about half a year later than anticipated. It’s perhaps one of the most affordable foldables on the market.

It’s nice to see these foldable devices getting more affordable, making it possible for more users to experience this cutting-edge tech.

One could argue that the Tecno Phantom V Fold2 is a mild refresh over its predecessor, at least by looking at the key specs. However, there are some notable improvements worth considering.

  • Connectivity: 5G; Dual SIM; Wi-Fi 6e; BT 5.3; NFC; FM radio, recording.
  • Misc: Fingerprint reader (under display, optical); stereo speakers.

For instance, the battery capacity is now 5,750 mAh and supports faster 70W wired charging. The handset also adopts wireless charging and starts at 12GB/512GB memory by default.

The handset also sports a new look with vegan leather back and a thinner, more lightweight design. Kudos for cramming in a bigger battery despite the reduction in size and weight.

Last but not least, the camera department gets some attention and replaces the 13MP ultrawide shooter with a 50MP one and the selfie camera is swapped out for a 32MP one.

The staple of the V Fold, displays and chipset remain the same.
