WHL’s Spokane Chiefs Launch First-Ever Teddy Bear Toss Jerseys – SportsLogos.Net News

The Western Hockey League’s Spokane Chiefs are taking a beloved holiday tradition to the next level.

The Chiefs will host their annual Teddy Bear Toss on Saturday, December 7, when they take on the Wenatchee Wild. And, for the first time in their history, they’ll be sporting special jerseys for the occasion, which they unveiled on their website and social media channels on Thursday, December 5.

The jerseys have a red base and white shoulders. The Chiefs’ mascot, Boomer, is depicted on the chest with a white beard and a red Santa hat with a Chiefs logo on the brim. Two broad white stripes run around each sleeve, with a narrower green stripe in between. The broad white stripe appears again on the waist, with a narrow green stripe above.

The left shoulder has a green-and-white American flag, while the right shoulder has the Chiefs’ 40th anniversary logo, recolored in red and green.

The numbers on the sleeves and back are one-colour white and set in a varsity block font. Nameplates on the back are green with white lettering.

Game time on Saturday is 6:05 p.m. PT, with doors at the Spokane Arena opening at 4:30 p.m. Along with the jerseys, special Teddy Bear Toss pucks will also be used for the game, though no photos of the pucks were provided in Thursday’s announcement.

Game-worn jerseys are being auctioned off online, with bids open until midnight PT on Saturday, December 11. A portion of the proceeds will go to The Spokesman-Review Christmas Bureau, which helps people and families in need throughout the Greater Spokane area during the holiday season. Other items will be up for auction at Saturday’s game, including a Boomer jersey, a blank Teddy Bear Toss jerseys and autographed specialty pucks.

The Teddy Bear Toss jerseys are one of four specialty jerseys the Chiefs plan to wear during the 2024-25 WHL regular season. Others include:

  • Military Appreciation Night — January 18 vs. Lethbridge Hurricanes
  • Chiefs Fight Cancer — February 15 vs. Tri-City Americans
  • Saint Paddy’s Day — March 15 vs. Tri-City Americans
