Chrome now lets you easily get rid of those annoying site notifications

You know how, despite promising yourself years ago that you’d never ever do it again, you keep tapping on Yes when websites ask to send you notifications? If so, then you’re surely aware of how annoying it is to have your notifications cluttered up by random ones from random websites.

Thankfully, Google Chrome has a solution – instant unsubscribe, in the notification itself. This is launching first on Pixels but is promised to land on more Android devices “soon”, and it will offer an Unsubscribe option right inside the notification. Tap that and you’re done – at least with that specific site’s spam (sorry, very important notifications).

You will obviously need to go through all of them one by one. And don’t worry, if you ever tap Unsubscribe by accident, you’ll be able to Undo your action and keep bathing in spam if you so wish.

Aside from this feature, Chrome is also getting an improved Safety Check, which will be running automatically in the background and revoking notification permissions from sites that Google Safe Browsing finds to be “deceiving users into granting the permission” (so, you know, most of them).

The new Safety Check will be informing you of the actions it takes, like revoking permissions from sites you don’t visit anymore, flagging unwanted notifications, and more. It will also remind you of things that need your attention, like any security issues that need to be addressed.

Finally, you can choose to grant permissions such as access to your camera and mic for one time only. Once you leave the site in question, the permissions will be revoked and the site won’t be able to use them until you explicitly grant them again.
