Earlier this week, Google made the Pixel 9 family official, and this includes the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, the successor to last year’s original Pixel Fold. Following the event, the Google Store has marked the Pixel Fold as “no longer available”, but apparently that won’t be the case for long.
While we wouldn’t have been at all surprised if Google decided to discontinue the Pixel Fold in light of its successor’s launch, apparently that’s not the case. A statement from Google clarifies the fact that the Pixel Fold will actually return.
The company will sell the Pixel Fold again, starting after the point when the Pixel 9 Pro Fold becomes available, which is going to happen on September 4. So, if you somehow were dying to get a Pixel Fold but didn’t manage to before this week, rest assured as you’ll have another chance starting in early September.
Google hasn’t revealed whether the original Pixel Fold will receive a discount now that its successor is on the market, but we assume the company might take $100 off or something along those lines. Not enough to truly drive any sales, but enough that people wouldn’t be able to complain that there’s no price reduction whatsoever. It’s the Apple way, and we see no reason why Google wouldn’t emulate it.
